Front suspension fork

I just bought a R-84 to use in addition to my P-38 based F-40 (I'll probably move the fairing over to the R-84 some time down the road). Anyway the R-84 has the suspension fork (the P-38 has a rigid fork) and it seems to have a lot stiction on vertical movement, even with the linkage disconnected. The bike wasn't used for a while, but wantedd to know if other people have worked with them, done any mods (polishing parts for lower stiction etc.) and what lube are you using on it (synthetic, teflon based, what?)

Thanks

Front Suspension Fork

I have had a suspension fork on my P-38 (later modified to the F-40 by adding the fairing) since I bought it in 1998 and to be honest, the only way I can tell the fork is working is by by seeing the brake line housing flex when I hit a bump. For me, the suspension is working, but it is not all that obvious.

Interested to hear how you find the R-84

Sorry I can't help with the fork issue but I am very curious as to how you find the R-84 in comparison to the P-38. I am saving towards an R-84 fitted with the F-40 fairing.

R-84 vs P-38

Sorry for the delay, I don't get to this board that often, the biggest change with the R-84 over the P-38 is the suspension, it helps the ride quality a lot, I don't pay as much attention to where I'm riding on the road and what there is to roll over and don't get jarred by potholes and road imperfections much. The reduced weight is nice too and the frame feels stiff stiff stiff.About the only down side is when going over some bumps it has strange tendency to sometimes feel like it sort of wants to steer off on it's own path, I have always caught it, but I've got to pay attention when it happens and correct it. The front fork itself has some freeplay in it and in the kinkage that tranfers turning motion form the handlebars to the fork has some play in it too (worn parts) so I want to work on them before declaring it an inherent problem. Generally it's a good step up, especially the suspension, but a lot of money and some of the stuff on it is a little tweaky. I put on a F-40 nose but want to add some sort of bodysock

Thanks

Thanks for answering my question about the R-84 vs P-38. I will keep saving. Goodluck with getting the body-sock setup.
