New OwnerHi All! I just purchased the Large Red P-38 that was listed on BROL last week. While I am waiting for it to arrive, I wanted to get a few accessories. ;-) What kind of mirror and seat bag would you recommend? Best, --Mark

It's here!
Got here today. Put it together and took a quick ride around the neighborhood. Lots of fun. I'll get a few longer rides in and report back.

Darn, you beat me to it. I offered $1750 and he came back at $1850. I thought about it for a day and was too late. I was suppose to go look at it in cape coral on Sunday. You will love it. I have an all black P-38 in XL. I am 5'10 1/2" with a 44.5" exseam and 34" inseam which borders on a large with XL boom or a XL with Std boom. I figured I would try the large and see the handling difference of more weight in the front versus more weight bias on the rear. You will love the P-38. I sold my Bacchetta Ti Aero after riding both back to back for a few months. I upgraded my P-38 with the Odyssey A brakes, Velocity Fusion rims, XT hubs, Sapim bladed spokes, Conti grand prix tires, Ultegra 12-27 cassette and got the matching black 105 rear derailleur and upgraded it with sealed jockey pullies. To answer your question, definately get the Lightning rear seat bag. Fits great and very useful with different pockets. For a mirror, I use a Bell attached to the left side of the handlebars next to the grip. I am probably going to change it to a mirrycle mirror that attaches to the brake lever. I have the black mirrycle bell at the right side.
Sorry man.
I was bidding on the large black P-38 that chiefbigtooth posted and when it was sold to a local buyer to avoid shipping, etc. I was bummed ... but it passed really quickly when a day later the red bike popped up so I figured it was meant to be.
I was initially planning to bid on the Barcroft Virginia GT because I have always liked that bike and the owner is about an hour from me.
My first bent was the F5 because initially I thought high racers were where it was at but once I got to rides over 65 miles my values changed and comfort, etc. became priorities. I love my TE and it got me interested in SWBs with a smaller front wheel. The P-38 looks like a great ride. I can't wait to have some fun.
If we do not get along for some reason ... I'll keep you in mind!
bags and mirrors
I used to have a Miracle (sp?) mirror attached to my left brake lever on an older P-38, and it worked well. But I now use a small mirror called Take-A-Look that attaches to my glasses or sunglasses. The Take-A-Look is excellent, and follows me from bike to bike easily. It is well made, lasts a long time, and is worth the $15 asking price.
I also have used eyeglass mirrors made by an outfit called 3rd Eye. The Take-A-Look is much better. The 3rd Eye mirrors kept breaking.
I do not have any good suggestions regarding bags beyond this: If your seat mesh eventually wears out, replace it with an R-84 style seat mesh. This has grommets all around the top perimeter of the mesh, and this makes attaching the straps of bags to the back of the seat very easy.
Hopefully others will have seat bag ideas for you.
Good luck with the new ride. When you get some miles in, write back to us with your impressions of the bike, and how it compares to other recumbents in your experience.
